Babysitting

The other day I had to babysit 3 kids. Two five year olds (Mia and Joseph) and one eight year old (Jake). I was extremely nervous. I didn't think they would have fun or even like me.

They were over at my house when I babysat them, and when they first entered the house, they were looking at me with such wide, timid, eyes. I was even more nervous and speechless. Words wouldn't come out, and I didn't know what to say!!!

I had donuts out to keep them entertained for the first few minutes. After a couple seconds, Jake became chatty, and I knew right away that we wouldn't be just standing there looking at each other the whole time.

Eventually, after Mia and Joseph saw their brother talking, they began to talk as well. Turns out, all three were really great kids. We ended up playing Twister and Ping-Pong in my basement. They LOVED it. Absolutely LOVED it!

We also played outside where we played Freeze Tag, jumped rope, and just hung out. Jake ended up REALLY liking a small toy that he had found in the garage. I had forgotten about it. He was addicted to it.

Mia and Joseph kept getting scratched up, so I had to tell them to wash it out...blah blah blah. They were really cute. I felt bad for them, and it was hard to see them so upset and hurt. Jake was very chatty, and it was really fun talking to him. He had some interesting conversations he wanted to have with me.

When they finally had to leave, Jake was SO upset. He didn't want to leave which was very funny because his mom had said he didn't want to come over because he was afraid he wouldn't have fun. And NOW look at him! He wanted to stay and keep playing games. He loved that toy he found, so I told him he could keep it, and he was SO grateful and appreciative. I waved goodbye when they finally drove away, and they did too.

I learned a lot from those kids, had so much fun, and made them happy too. I was afraid they wouldn't like me, but guess what? THEY DID.

This is dedicated to Mia, Jake, and Joseph! GLAD YOU HAD FUN!!! (I don't even know if you're reading this...) :)
