So, what's the "SmorgShow Podcast," anyway?
As I've said in my blog posts, I star in a podcast my dad and I do together called the "SmorgShow Podcast." We do a show every weekend, and they get posted onto my blog. And for those of you who don't know what a podcast is...it's like a radio show that isn't live on the radio. It's a recording that can be uploaded and downloaded anywhere.
The SmorgShow Podcast is full of fun, crazy stuff that everyone enjoys! Some of the features included are hilarous news stories and Baba Gonesh's visits with funny Indian folktales and jokes. On special occasions, we do an old-time radio skit, typically a murder mystery. Other times, we have trivias even the listeners enjoy! And, sometimes it's just a random show that'll make your sides hurt from laughing.
History
HOW IT GOT STARTED
When my dad was in high school, he had his own radio show that he would do with his friends. It wasn't news or anything, just for entertainment. The radio show ended in the late 1980's. My dad missed the fun of being behind a microphone and coming up with different bits, so one day he said to me that he wanted to do it with me just for fun. We recorded some funny stuff, and since we had so much fun doing it, we put it out on the web. My dad mainly put it out there just for his radio show friends to discover to know that he still loves doing that kind of stuff. This was how the first episode of the SmorgShow Podcast got started. After we did that bit, we decided to make it into a weekly show.
THE PODCAST'S NAME
I think I might have mentioned this in a blog post. When my dad was doing the radio show, his friend Peet thought that they could use the word "Smorg" in the show. My dad and his other friends were just kind of like, "What?" Peet said that since their radio show had a big variety of material, it was like a smorgasbord (as in a smorgasbord of food). Smorg for short. My dad and I decided to bring that name back for our podcast. Let's see. It's a podcast and a show. SmorgShow Podcast.
